The English Montreal School Board wanted an optimised website and CMS for to help manage its multi-lingual website. The Client: English Montreal School Board

The English Montreal School Board - the largest English public school board in Quebec - came to I‑Finity asking us to optimise their high traffic website built on Agility CMS. 

They required a multi-lingual Agility CMS website with architectural configuration, new modular capabilities, and optimisation of events and display of content.

We provided the support and website enhancements required. Working across different time zones across dedicated support channels, we utilised the time differences to perform live deployments at optimal times, ensuring a streamlined transition.

As a result, the English Montreal School Board website now has shared components and content for multiple schools. The website now supports its network of over 77 schools and centres more seamlessly.

How We Did It: Agility CMS Tech Delivering Flexible, Highly Customisable Solutions

Since the website has high traffic levels, we required a flexible, scalable CMS that we could distribute across multiple servers.

Cloud-based architecture is effective with redundancy and failover mechanisms, which are needed in cases like these to ensure the site stays live during peak traffic hours, and if a server goes down, the website remains up and running.

Security risks are more likely to arise with high traffic websites. To strengthen these factors, Agility’s robust security systems effectively protect the site from potential threats, while its scalability makes it robust enough to process large volumes of data without losing out on performance.

Improved website flexibility

We understand the importance of a flexible website that delivers without undue loading times and glitches, so implemented a headless structure using Agility. This also allowed us to leverage modular management and content delivery across multiple channels, leading to a more flexible, aesthetically appealing website. The additional server power helps them to better support the onboarding of schools onto the website.

Re-architected initial configuration

A thorough content restructure was possible with a combination of our team’s expertise and Agility CMS’s custom content models, which allow modular and flexible structures. Knowing English Montreal School Board has a consistently high content workflow, it was mandatory to progress integration via a hosting platform with robust abilities. Our experts made the sharing of components fluid and easily accessible across parent and child sites.

Provided further customisation

Modular capabilities were particularly important for this project, as they cater to the individual designs and unique content needs of each school. Agility’s modular content creation solutions allow us to craft unique content blocks. Once designed, they can be reused across multiple pages or website sections, unifying UX and brand.

Improved the events calendar

As events are a big part of the client’s presence, we optimised their events calendar, with important fields like event name, date, time, location, description, and links to buy tickets covered.

Optimised mobile view

At I-Finity, we know the value of mobile optimisation, so prioritise a mobile first approach. Building a calendar picker with front-end mechanisms, we were able to build the picker and integrate it for mobile. Broadly, we streamlined the website for mobile users through image optimisation and minimising HTTP requests using our in-house experience.

Improved content performance

We migrated all content to the new CMS, using an API-first approach, and optimising all SEO factors from site mapping to layout management.
